Our Philosophy

For over 20 years, our Junior Studio Music Department has developed a statewide and national reputation as a leader in cutting-edge innovative music programs.

The Vital Role of Private Music Education

Science demonstrates that music education is essential to the development of human potential. With the continued decline of music and arts in public education, the role of independent music teachers and private music study is vital to the growth and success of all American communities now more than ever before.

In keeping with Wendelken Piano Studio and Wendelken Studio of Musical Arts’ commitment to culture and creativity and to making music accessible to everyone, our school offers a wide variety of private lessons and group performance classes for people of all ages, levels, and artistic interests.

Along with our affiliate, The Royal Conservatory of Music, WSMA is dedicated to excellence in music education, developing new and innovative programs to meet the needs of our students, and presenting educational opportunities that reflect Tampa’s unique multicultural social context.

Our faculty of distinguished artists and educators are committed to the development and growth of their students as artists and individuals. Acknowledging that every student has unique methods of learning and levels of ability, students work collaboratively with their instructors to ensure that their individual needs and interests are addressed.

Childrens’ Programs

When working with a child, learning music never really feels like work. The mind remains more open and retains better when lessons are fun, as well as challenging. The benefits children gain from music study enrich every aspect of their lives. From our Junior school, tailored to the abilities of each individual child , to group performance classes, to local competitions, festivals and state competitions, Wendelken Studio of Musical Arts and Wendelken Piano Studio have something to offer children of all ages, levels, and interests.

Our Junior School encompasses students from that very first lesson until the completion of RCM grade 3. At this juncture, students are considered well into the intermediate level; whether their instrument is Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, Voice or Percussion.

For the past 20 years, Wendelken Studio’s Junior children’s department has developed a statewide and national reputation as a leader in cutting-edge innovative music and learning programs for children. If you are looking to give your child a head start — intellectually, socially, and artistically — now is the time to take advantage of Wendelken Studio of Musical Arts highly respected educational environment and excellent programming for children.

Over the years, “The Studio’s” top-notch children’s faculty has brought to Tampa Bay and its surrounding areas the most innovative teaching methods from around the world.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Our Alumni include Doctors and Surgeons, Dentists and Optometrists, Attorneys, Classical Musicians, Teachers, Professors, Political Scientists, Engineers, Writers and more….

They attribute their ability to think and problem solve in a different “divergent” manner to their music lessons, just as Einstein did:  "The theory of relativity occurred to me by intuition, and music is the driving force behind this intuition. My parents had me study the violin from the time I was six. My new discovery is the result of musical perception"

Music education fosters many of the skills children will require for success in school and the workplace, as well as their personal and social lives. Many scientific studies have demonstrated the benefits of learning music, including: increased self-confidence, improved self-discipline, gains in memory, and reduced stress.
